Amongst the few Japanese WWII fighters with liquid cooled engines, the sharp form of the "Kawasaki Ki 61 Type 3 Fighter Hien" impressed many. According to historical records, the engine design was licensed from Daimler of Germany but due to Japan's lack of resources, the engine had technical problems and therefore couldn't perform to its potential. On the other hand, the originally developed fuselage was strong and produced good aerodynamics and was well accepted amongst Japan's elite pilots. This airplane was later recognized as one of the most important fighters of the Japanese Army. As the subject of many legendary stories, the Hien has been accurately reproduced in a pre-assembled balsa fuselage. Even the retractable undercarriage has been included and finished with pre-installed linkage rods. Covered in multiple layers of high-quality single color lightweight film, only a few assembly steps remain with engine mounting, servo and servo rod attachment. Kyosho's years of design experience results in a model of superior quality and flight performance. This model is an excellent introduction to low-wing airplane and sports flying.
